Muscat: From January 1, 2022, Omanis will pay less for more than 500 government services.

According to the Ministry of Finance, fee reductions range from 17% to 96%. Details of the fees can be obtained from the Ministry of Finance website.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the new fee structure was formulated after consultation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the relevant municipal authorities.

The decision was made after a cabinet meeting chaired by Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik (Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik), which reviewed the performance results of government agencies for 2020-2021. Sultan Haytham affirmed the need for government agencies to provide better services to the public.

After the meeting, it was announced that an independent unit directly under Sudan Haytham will be established to measure the performance of government agencies.

The department will help improve the efficiency of all government agencies through continuous evaluation. It will also suggest ways to improve the efficiency and quality of the services it provides.

At the same time, according to instructions issued by Sultan Haytham, more than 28,000 eligible employees will be promoted in government departments. The Ministry of Labor stated that the decision will be implemented from January 1, 2022.
